New MASAYACO Collection
Inspired by his experience in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua, Aram partnered with Michael Terry to establish MasayaCo with a vision of combining environmental restoration and sustainable design. The company began by reforesting land once cleared for cattle ranching, proving that conservation and economic sustainability can go hand in hand. Today, every piece of teak furniture helps support these efforts, which have expanded to more than 1.3 million trees planted.

After completing his Peace Corps assignment in Nicaragua, Aram witnessed firsthand the environmental impact of unsustainable forestry practices. Motivated to create a socially and environmentally responsible business, he founded MasayaCo alongside Michael Terry. In its early years, the company focused on restoring deforested cattle land through reforestation, where Aram recognized that forests could be preserved and expanded through a sustainable economic model.
As the reforestation projects grew, MasayaCo established its manufacturing headquarters in Managua to create furniture designed to capture carbon throughout its lifetime. Today, the company’s teak furniture supports the maintenance of its forest reserves in Nicaragua. In 2014, MasayaCo collaborated with American artist Justin Terry and Nicaraguan designer Abril Zepeda, bringing a distinctive creative vision to its expanding collection. Inspired by the craftsmanship of Masaya and the country’s rich culture and natural beauty, the woven collection was introduced. Every piece is crafted from renewable solid wood grown within the company’s own reforestation projects. With more than 1.3 million trees planted to date, MasayaCo continues to redefine how furniture is made.
